A dental veneer is an ultra-thin layer of porcelain that is placed over the tooth’s surface to improve the tooth’s attractiveness in terms of alignment, color, or shape. They are wonderful for fixing teeth that are significantly discolored, chipped, pitted, malformed, crooked, or if you have unwanted spaces. A substantial aesthetic effect can be obtained with a veneer and minimal tooth preparation is required.

Applying Veneers

Unlike crowns or caps, porcelain veneers don’t require the removal of much tooth structure and Dr. Bauer will apply the veneers to your teeth in 2 visits:

Visit # 1 Veneer Preparation:

During the first visit, Dr. Bauer will match the color of your teeth using a shade guide and prepare the teeth by removing 0.3 to 0.5 mm of enamel (the thickness of a fingernail) to allow room for the veneer layer. An impression of the teeth is then taken by Dr. Bauer to create the veneers.

Visit #2 Veneer Bonding:

The second visit requires the bonding of the veneers, which involves all the steps that permanently attach the veneer to the tooth. Dr. Bauer will clean the tooth and bond the veneer directly to the teeth with special dental cement. This cement is then hardened with a blue curing light and polished to a natural, aesthetic smile.

Bridges

Dental bridges bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap – these two anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth – and a false tooth/teeth in between. These false teeth are called pontics and can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants.

Benefits of Dental Bridge

  • Maintain the shape of your face
